Amber was 2007 alumni and member of Phi MU who passed away in 2008. The Amber Volk Foundation was established by Amber's family and friends to honor her memory and to spread her values and passions both locally and globally through various endeavors that demonstrate her spirit as a positive and hardworking family member, friend, philanthropist, and goal setter.

In 2012, the foundation teamed up with Recreational Sports to create a memorial scholarship to attend Miami University for a Harrison High School Student in honor of this Miami graduate. Proceeds from the race help fund this scholarship.
