Beginning with the first event in 2009 the Honest Abe Trail Run was entirely organized and executed by a very small band of dedicated volunteers with critical help from park personnel. As of the 2022 event, the Honest Abe Trail Run has been officially put on by Friends of Lincoln State Park with continued and increased support from park personnel. The Friends group is a great 501(c)(3) consisting of volunteers focused on supporting and preserving the park.

This event consists of three races within Lincoln State Park. All proceeds will be donated directly to Lincoln State Park. Proceeds from past events have been used for critical things like planting trees and trail maintenance, among other things.
