Lakes Area Autism Network will hold a "Run for Autism" 5K and 1-mile event on November 5, 2022, at Wawasee High School.

The 5K race will take place on the Wawasee High School cross-country course. Start time 9:00 am. Registration begins at 8:00 am and will end at 8:45 am. All preregistered participants will be guaranteed a t-shirt if registered by October 23rd at 11:59 PM. Age 7 and under is free. The race day price is $25. This event is Chip timed by Watt's My Time. 5k awards to the overall male and female winner, the overall master male and female winner plus the top 2 in each age group both male and female.

The 1-mile event will take place on the high school track at 9:30 am. All pre-registered participants will be guaranteed a t-shirt if registered by October 23rd at 11:59 PM. Age 7 and under is free. This is an untimed event. Registration for the 1-mile event will be open from 8:00 AM to 9:15 AM. The race day price is $20.

Our goal is to bring about awareness and support for families and individuals touched by autism spectrum disorders. This annual event has raised funds that have allowed us to contribute in the following ways: Grant Funds: The grants are allowing families and professionals to purchase needed supplies, supports, and equipment, attend training events, and access other resources as they strive to improve the life of an individual with autism. Annual Training Event: In March LAAN presents an all-day training in our community for parents, professionals, and other community members. Sensory-Friendly Movies: LAAN and the North Pointe Cinema host free sensory-friendly movies for our families. Sensory Inclusive Community: LAAN is working to create a community that welcomes and supports those individuals on the autism spectrum through sensory materials and training. We provide free sensory kits to families and businesses.
