Join the Lake Central Education Foundation and the Lake Central school community for a 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. This year's 5K theme is "You Can be a Hero!" Wear your favorite superhero gear or Military regalia while running, skipping, jogging or walking across the finish line. Capes and your fastest superhero gym shoes are encouraged!

A little bit about us: The Lake Central Education Foundation is an organization that strives to better the Lake Central school community by raising money to enhance innovative educational opportunities for students through partnerships with educators, parents, businesses, and the greater community. We host an array of fundraisers throughout the year. This year we have decided to host this 5K run/walk. This event is extra special because we will be honoring the late Dayna Less, a proud Lake Central Graduate.

After graduating from Lake Central in 2012, Dayna received her PharmD from Purdue University in May of 2018. Sadly, as a Pharmacy Resident, Dayna lost her life on November 18, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Chicago. Dayna was known for being kind, forgiving, friendly, helpful, smart and adventurous. She was also a great writer and a passionate person who wanted to help others. Dayna also loved running! If you participated in the 2021 5K and received a "Dayna Less Memorial Pin" we encourage you to wear it during the race as a sign of strength and courage, in memory of Dayna.
