SARR Great Greenway - Marathon

n celebration of the great Howard Peak Greenway System, you and your team can cover 26.2 miles of this beautiful, scenic, shaded course that explores the many parks along the Leon and Salado creeks at the edge of the Texas Hill Country in San Antonio. You can have up to 5 runners per team and there are several categories for you to compete against other teams. This is a point-to-point course and each leg of the marathon relay explores a different section of the Greenway trails. There are 5 Relay Legs and they range from 4 to 7 miles in length, so you will have to strategize on which of your runners to put on which leg.

The race starts at the mainland trailhead off Bandera Road (parking is available at Walmart across the street.) The first relay handoff (Relay 1) is at the Valero trailhead. Relay 2 is at Eisenhower Park, Relay 3 is at the 1604 trailhead, and Relay 4 (the handoff to the last runner) is at Walker Ranch Park. The race ends at the McAllister Dog Park where a celebration and medals will be waiting for your team. A complete map and instructions will be provided to each team.

If you have never participated in a point-to-point relay before, you are in for quite the adventure. Part of the fun is making sure your runners get to their relay points on time and then meeting your last runner at the finish line to celebrate as a team. So, pick your team carefully. Runners of all abilities are welcome. (Must be at least 16 years old to participate.)

Be part of history. Be part of this inaugural event as we embrace our Great Greenway system and as we celebrate the 50-year anniversary of the San Antonio Roadrunners.

For the safety of all runners, no strollers or dogs will be allowed on the race course.
