Since 2000, the Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation’s Race for Research has grown into a highly anticipated annual gathering for patients, caregivers, families, friends and co-workers impacted by a brain tumor diagnosis. What began as a small race in north Atlanta—hosted by local NBC meteorologist Chris Holcomb—has grown into a powerful community movement. Chris remains a passionate supporter honoring his sister's memory to this day.
Today, the Race for Research welcomes more than 1,000 participants each year and has raised over $3 million to support the brain tumor community. The event offers a fun, tailgate-style atmosphere where teams set up tents, connect with one another, and proudly share why they support SBTF.
We honor survivors, caregivers, and current patients through meaningful tributes like the Wall of Honor and Survivor Tree, creating moments of reflection, hope, and celebration. Our partners—including treatment centers and local businesses—help provide valuable resources and information to participants throughout the event.
Opening and closing ceremonies shine a spotlight on our top fundraisers, dedicated sponsors, longtime supporters, and incredible volunteers. Best of all, we love welcoming familiar faces back year after year as our community continues to grow stronger together.
