Chattahoochee Challenge Sprint Triathlon Duathlon

Saturday, July 11th, 2020 - 5:00 am to 11:30 am EDT

Event Details

Columbus, GA has quickly become a Triathlon Mecca. It is home to a long distance triathlons, sprints, olympics, duathlons, adventure races, and off-road duathlons. The 4-6ft down river swims, fast and flat bike course, and the flat and scenic run course appeal to both the beginner and advanced triathlete.

Triathlons, especially Sprint races should be FUN. Start your experience with a water slide into the river (not required) and finish it up with a water slide and splash pad at the finish line.

Not a big swimmer, but still want to get wet? Join the Chattahoochee Challenge Sprint Triathlon Floatie Division with a 500m float (bring your best floatie), 12 mile bike, and 5k run. Awards will be given for the top 3 floaties.

The Swim:
500m downstream. Athletes will start the swim portion of the race via a water slide. Remain calm, the entry into the water is very tame and controlled. The river depths are approximately 4-6 ft in depth. The closer to shore, the more shallower the water. All entries down the water slide must be feet first… no exceptions. Should an athlete not want to use the slide start, the use of the steps to the waters edge is permitted once the athlete crosses the timing mat. The start is conducted in a “time-trial” fashion. Athletes start one at a time.

The Bike:

12 miles – The bike course begins and ends on the Columbus Riverwalk.

The Run:

3.1 miles – The run course is very flat 1-loop course. An aid stations is located approximately 200 yds out of transition. You will pass this aid station twice.
